About

Hey Ya'll

Hello all, my name is Amy Jenkins and welcome to the about me section of the website. My call to therapy came after completing extensive therapeutic work while attending Moody Bible Institute. During this time I saw the Lord reveal Himself  to me in a profound way, through His Word and through His people. While I searched for my role in ministry the opportunity arose to return to school and this is where my calling came full circle. I have had the pleasure to experience the "beauty from ashes" work for myself in therapy and my hope is to join others in their own beauty from ashes therapeutic work. My training from  Moody Bible Institute has helped to build my faith and resources. I was blessed again when attending Abilene Christian University, to obtain a  Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy that has awarded me extensive knowledge in working with individuals and couples. In my experience as a human I have come to understand that life is hard. Day- to-day challenges arise and can bring unwelcomed stressful feelings. Relationships are a part of everything we do and our best intentions are sometimes met with complications or difficulty. My goal is to aid those in learning fresh tools and perspectives in order to have more peace and joy throughout their lives. I utilize EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and TF-CBT (Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) when working with trauma in adolescents and adults. EMDR and TF-CBT is not only beneficial for individuals that suffer with PTSD or relationship betrayals, but is also effective with those dealing with depression and anxiety that are oftentimes symptoms of deep rooted trauma. When working with couples I also incorporate Gottman Couples Methodology in aiding couples to find healing or cohesiveness in their marriages. My approach to counseling not only comes from study of evidence based tools but also a genuine desire to come alongside others in their journey. Step 1, is the courage to seek counseling and here you are. If you find we are a good fit, feel free to take step 2 and reach out, it would be an honor to join you on the journey.  Amy
